About Us

How we got started

The Benoit Community Center was started in 1990, when the Ondossagon School District closed.  A group of community members got together and bought the building for $1 with the goal to keep the building available for the community to use.

There was lots of cleaning and fixing due to the building being vandalized, once the school was closed .In the 1990's at its start there were many events put on as fundraisers, polka dances, smelt fries and 5x5 weekend softball tournaments, to name a few.

Keeping the building heated and maintaining the building was the front of the board member’s goal. In the 1990's there was also a tee-ball, little league and Babe Ruth baseball.  The Benoit Bombers, as they were known, won several league championships.

Today we continue to be a place for community members to gather.
